New 3DS won't turn on

My New 3DS won't turn on at all, clicking the power button does nothing at all. But when the 3ds is plugged up the orange charging LED turns on and a faint red light appears for a second when I click the power button. I've tried replacing the battery and have boot9strap (since its modded) but doesn't work. Please help.

Hi Sonrai!

Oh, this does sound like something broke on the motherboard OR power board. I would advise to check the fuses first. More information and pictures regarding the location can be found here (he is facing the exact same issue as you have and he fixed it with a new daughter/power board):

Otherwise, try to replace the power board first (this one is way cheaper) if this didn't worked, then you do need to check the motherboard.

Good luck!!

So I checked both fuses and they both work fine, so I ordered that replacement power board and I'll update you after I've replaced it.

So here's a little update, new power board arrived and I replaced it, the n3ds does turn on now. However I have the exact same issue as the person you mentioned, the battery ic does not charge the battery and I would have to replace that, not sure where I can buy this chip at and I don't have a heat gun to use nor any experience with one. But still thank you again for helping :)

Hi! You need to replace the charge IC to get that working again! Check the EM1 for continuity. If this is not the case, you need to either replace it or bridge the connections. If this one is fine, then check the components near the charge port. If they are all fine you need to replace the "NEC" chip. But this is difficult. You do need a heat gun and soldering iron to get them to work. You can also bring it to a local repair shop to ask them to do it, if you have no experience in soldering. What you also can do,, is to buy an "external DSi charger". A charger where you can put the battery in. After it's finished you can put in your DSi to play games again. This is not the best solution but at least it will work and your DSi will now boot again thanks to the new power board!
