Panasonic SC-NT10 Bluetooth Speaker - Has anyone replaced the battery?

Hey there!

I recently bought a Pansonic SC-NT10 bluetooth speaker off of eBay. It's an awesome speaker, even though it's 11 years old. It's splash-proof, dust-proof, shock-proof and frozen/heat-proof. The battery when new is rated to last for 8 hours without the Boost on. It only gets almost 2 hours. I looked in the manual and it gives instructions on how to open the speaker to remove the battery only for disposal. It says it's not intended for repair and it also says once the unit is disassembled, it can't be restored. I wonder how true this really is or if Panasonic was really serious.

Has anyone attempted to replace the battery in it? I haven't found anything on the internet, post or video about replacing the battery.

Thanks!

Tommy

@tommythoma67144 "once the unit is disassembled, it can't be restored" I do believe that they would do this. After all, they make money on new devices not by us fixing things. There is probably tons of glue that keeps the case together. Have you seen any screws on this or does it all look seamless, like the plastic is UV welded?

Update 4/28/2024

@tommythoma67144 just found some disassembly instructions. Panasonic is full of it.

Just so you have them Panasonic SC NT10 Dissasmble

So we can debunk the nonsense they spread, while you work on your speaker, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has a device with the same issues as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.

@oldturkey03 There are three screws on the bottom under the rubber stoppers. There also looks to be two torx screws on top. I didn't want to try it until I knew someone had done it and done it successfully.

@tommythoma67144 the only thing that might be glued could be the three legged concealer of the screws :-) A good hairdryer should take care of that :-)

@oldturkey03 Thank you so much! I will take pictures when I'm able to take it apart. I guess my only other questions would be:

1) Where can I find a new battery for it?

2) Could I use a bigger capacity battery for it?

Thank you again! I really like this speaker and I wanted to be able to replace the battery! :)

@tommythoma67144 I am certain we can find the right battery for it. Yes, you most like can. Looks like there is a bit of room so we'll get a bit bigger battery to fit :-) Once you have it apart, take some pictures of the battery and post those. That way we can get that taken care off.
