Does anyone have experience on where the BIOS chip is located

Hi All,

The laptop as stated in subject is an ASUS F15 TUF Dash FX517ZC.

Due to partner powering down laptop during BIOS update I need to find the BIOS chip and try externally flash it with a CH341a as it is corrupted. In order to do this I need to locate the BIOS chip. Has anyone got any experience of this model and where it may be or what flash chip was used?

I have currently came across two 8 pin flash chips, but they are too small capacity (Winbond was 2MB, Macronix was 1MB). Finding the chip seemed easier on other models from an online search!!!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

For anyone else in the same situation, I believe the bios chip is a GD25R256D in a WSON8 package so the pins are mostly underneath. Getting a good connection to the underneath is extremely difficult

@Caffeinecrazy How did you manage do connect the chip? Did you desolder it or use a clamp? If you used a clamp, where did you put it? Underneath or on the top?
