K cup pod adapter not activating display

I know there is a micro switch for the grounds brewing that activates the display. I know for the pod adapter it has to be slid all the way forward for the display to activate. I can’t get the display to activate. My question is- what activates the display? Is there another micro switch, a magnet activated switch, or some other wireless activator?
