My left Airpod is producing heavy static and the right metallic noise

whenever I put my AirPods into noise cancellation mode, my left AirPod produces a heavy static noise on transparency mode so loud that people can hear if they're within 3 feet of me. The right one also produces a more muted, albeit metallic sound when on noise cancellation.

Any idea what could be happening? I got these as a hand-me-down and this won't seem to go away, even after cleaning them with a cleaner and using IPA for the charging port.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Actually, Apple recalled this issue all the way back in 2020. I am not sure if I am approved to say this, but you can bring the AirPods to a nearby Apple store, and you may get your AirPods replaced for free.

Interesting. I still don't have Apple care and my parents have zero clue as to when they were manufactured, but ill @mention you on the weekend when I go to find out if this is possible.

Thanks a lot, EverythingAwesomeTech.

@tanveerzubair of course you can say this. Anything that is free from those companies and anything that they will have to do for free to fix their messes and greed, is perfectly okay to say :-)
