Wired charging failing after battery replacement [wireless works]

I have followed the battery replacement guide from iFixit, using their kit.

The repair went smooth, screen did not crack nor did the battery explode upon extraction.

Once the new battery was installed I have charged it to 100% and drained it back to 0 with a wired cable according to the guide.

When I tried to charge it to 100% for the second time, it stopped charging at 20% and never accepted the wired charger again.

I have:

  • cleaned the ports
  • tried different outlets
  • tried several chargers
  • force restarted

with no luck.

The phone is able to charge wireless and there was no issue with the battery drawing power, so I would be suspecting some error with the port, caused by the repair. However, how did it work for the first day in that case? Also, this repair had nothing to do with the port itself.

Thanks for the read and hope you have some suggestions!

You probably just nicked something in the port, you could try to find anything wrong with the old one but I suspect the port
