Pixel 7 Pro microphone replacement

My Pixel 7 Pro was dropped in water for a minute, it works fine, but the mics are no longer working. Does anyone here know how to replace the microphone? I can't find a guide for mic replacement here

Hi @jacedg

The ifixit Repair Snapshot Pixel 7 Pro guide has a flowchart that shows the disassembly procedure to get to the microphone board

I can't seem to understand the disassembly tree. However, is the mic board the same as the mic on the camera? Cause both my mics are not working

It's like following a road map, but in this case you have to remove the parts mentioned along the way so as to get to the part you want to replace.

With using the flowchart start at the mic board and work backwards to see what path you need to take to get to the start and then reverse the direction when you actually start to disassemble the phone

You might have two problems.

Most phones have two mics so if the cameras aren't working either then perhaps there may be a problem with the grounding washer that may be used for the cameras (and the mic there) to function but not the mic on the mic board. I'm not sure but you can only check and find out as it's not working anyway.

Ahh okay so what is the camera ground washer supposed to look like? I'll check it out for sure!

@jacedg

Was the phone dropped or had it gotten wet at all?

Seems strange that both mics and the camera's now don't work at the same time.

Try starting the phone in safe mode and see if either mic or cameras now work.

It may not be the washer, it was just something that is common to both components (camera and mic board) that has to be removed to get to the camera module and the mic board that's all
