Carefully with the sync function, it will take the data from your computer and overwrite your nano. You do want to turn the automatic sync in iTunes off. There are a few ways of getting this accomplished, but I prefer to use software like Sharepod. It is available here and it is free. If you want to look at some instruction/tutorial first, check on here. Again, definitely start by turning auto sync off. Hope this helps, good luck.
