I replaced the battery with one of IFix kits, all works besides the battery health but I suspected that as I read it in the notes when carrying out the purchase of the kit. Only issue is now the phone will no longer update and is stuck with the older software. Unsure if this is normal?

This is quite normal on Apple devices unfortunately. I think something like a device like the one I link to is the only solution. Hope you kept the original battery.
