Black vertical shadows on new screen

Hi, bought a replacement screen for my s7 fe, and took it to a local phone shop to install. Didn't bother completing the install due to these black vertical shadows.

Repair guy thinks its a faulty screen, could it be anything else?

Looks to me like a backlight issue; if I recall correctly it's called a stage light problem because it looks like the spotlights that used to be lined up along the front of a stage. Usually caused by half of the LEDs being out, which can be from several issues such as a bent or broken connector, damaged flex cable, or a blown fuse, among others.

So yeah, I'd try plugging the original screen back in, and if that one's backlight works correctly, then you've definitely got a bad replacement and should contact the vendor about a warranty replacement.

Cheers mate, unfortunately the dog pretty much destroyed the original screen, rendered it unusable with near complete blank screen.

@wkk96541 LOL, hence the reason for replacing the screen in the first place. However, even without a picture you should still see that the backlights are on and evenly illuminating the screen, unlike the effect you've got with your replacement.

Anyway, really sounds like time to get in touch with the seller and see about getting a replacement.

Appreciate the help, return process started and its on its way back to China.

@wkk96541 do not forget to check the capacitors around the display connector on your motherboard. A failed cap on the return can also cause this effect :-)
