@peytongilbert since your phone seems to work as it should with the exception of the display. I would suggest that yo start off with a new display, then re-evaluate to see if there are other issues. Right now you are dealing with to many unknown. You need to have one known-well starting point for any further troubleshooting.

Since iFixit does not yet have a guide for this, use the one from here It was written in Spanish so use a browser that does the translation. Replacement displays are readily available at many online stores.

While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same problem as you do.
