Why is my amplifier have current although it is not switched on?

My Alphasonik fa 200 car amplifier when connected although the on switch isint on still gets current but nothing comes on?

Guy, how much current are we talking about? A lot of modern electronics have a standby state where they will draw a very small amount of power even when turned off, so if it's something on the order of milliamps it shouldn't be a concern. If you're seeing it pull several amps when powered off, then you're probably right to be worried.

@guy38186 most on/off switches do not really cut the power to the device. They just use electronic circuits to prevent the device from coming on. Like a TV, Stereo, amplifier etc, there will always be current/voltage on it for as long as it is being supplied. After all, it provides the standby power which is needed to open (activate) the circuits once you hit the on button. So, it is not uncommon at all to have power on your device. The trick is to find out where you measured the voltage/current and how much you got at that point. Your issues of having power to the amp but not turning on, is an issue with the power distribution/power management.
