usb cable to head phone jack .Is it possiable to make work

Im trying to put together a USB cable for my 2nd gen shuffel can I do this using an old head phone jack Been trying for days to get some kind of diagram on the wiring can you help please email me at joncrows@yahoo.com thanks

jon crows, wondering if this is something that you are looking for. Check on here and of course right here. This should be all the information needed, if you are going to build your own cable. So, yes you can use your old headphone jack, if you know how to use a meter to determine which cable goes to which point of the jack. If you Google it, you'll find a few good images. hope this helps, good luck.

Greetings and thank you oldturkey03 .. Youve saved me some hair ,I'd

already pulled a lot of it out trying to figure this out.One thing though .

Head phone jacks only come wiyh three contact points.So I guess its off to Radio shack for the nessary four pin male plug.....I should of known from the beginning I just was hopeing I guess I could cheat It some how..Thanks for your time Some where down the line maybe I can return the favor. :-) jon crows, what you are looking for is called a TRRS connector. You can get them at places like this and many others. I have just looked at my Apple headphone and mine do have the TRRS, probably because they are for some new iDevices. The ones for my older iPod indeed only have three contacts.
