when I switch it on all I get
when i switch tele on all i get is no signal in words floating about the screen

The "No Signal" message means whatever source you're using for the TV to display is either not connected or turned off. There are an awful lot of reasons this might have happened; here are a few off the top of my head.
- Cable has come unplugged
- Source was turned off
- Wrong input source is selected for the TV
Check the cable connections and make sure whatever you're using (cable box, game system, streaming device, etc.) is plugged in and turned on.

@dianebaker what exact model is your TV and how is it connected? Coax, Component, HDMI and SAT, Cable box etc. The more background you can give us the greater your chances of an answer that will help you to fix your TV.

He's asking you for more information about your television, what it's connected to, and how it's connected. That will help us figure out what might be going wrong as to why you're getting that No Signal message.
There is never any charge for the advice you get here on iFixit and they don't employ repair persons at all, as the entire purpose is to help you to be able to fix your own things.
