Battery not charging beyond 4%

When starting, the device wouldn't charge beyond 7%. Contacted Wacom and they suggested I try:

  1. Disconnect all cables from the tablet
  2. Open the Device Manager
  3. Remove ACPI compliant Battery and AC Power adapter
  4. When disconnected, press and hold the power button for 20-25 seconds
  5. Wait 10-20 seconds then press and hold the power button for 20-25 seconds
  6. Now restart the tablet so Windows will reinstall those drivers and leave the tablet connected for at least 2 hours

When that didn't fix the issue, they advised uploading drivers. Which also didn't work and it's now a non warranty return for $1,232.00 repair. And I just feel they're going to just replace this one with a refurbished one for that cost and I would rather try fixing it myself.

Now it's at 4% and I'm hoping someone here can help me in possibly finding a solution because everything else works fine. I also don't mind if the solution is to somehow make it to where it's plugged in like a computer rather than it acting like a tablet.

And any other solutions are welcome.

So I opened up the tablet using @oldturkey03 's suggested video and then also found this youtube video that also helped in knowing where to apply focus for the heat gun to remove parts.

After opening the MobileStudio Pro, the inside desperately needed dusting and I unplugged and then plugged back in the battery. Now the battery has started to charge again. I still plan on replacing the battery, because I'm very sure that the issue is the battery, but this is a good temp fix till I get a new one in the mail.

@artofdawn teh very first thing I'd be looking at, is to replace the battery. It may be depleted to a point where it just does no longer accept a charge. To work on it or just to get an idea about what is going on, check this video
