Why does the camera only turns every other angle then straight ahead?

My Nikon Coolpix L20 works great on every area besides turning on, it does turn on, yet; it turns on only straight ahead! And it just shuts down within its interior of the body. Like you can press the turn on button having the front camera facing up, and it will turn on but, having front camera facing forward to the wall for example, it doesn’t work. When you have it on and move it facing forward it just shuts down as if it’s a red zone you know.

I think that the mechanism that opens the lens has worn down over time. There are no sensors that I know of which can detect the camera's orientation, so my best guess is that the connection that turns on the camera is loose and only becomes active in certain angles. If possible, you should take it apart using an online guide for your camera and make sure all the connections are tight.
