A more affordable, purely handheld version of the Nintendo Switch game console, with integrated Joy-Con controllers and a slightly smaller screen. Released September 20, 2019.

What is the safest way to power down my device?

So recently my switch just got the error code 2165-1001 and the error message specifically says to power down the console using the power button. However, my console's power button hasn't worked in about a year, if not longer, and I haven't had a chance to replace it myself or the opportunity to get it fixed. Is it safe to let the console die and then charge it? Or is there a safe way to power down the console in this case? Again, I cannot use the power button as the power button does not work.

An update for this: I went to bed and when I woke up in the morning my switch was dead. I plugged it into the charger and it started working again. Now I just gotta figure out how to fix the power button.

Can you try holding the home button to get into the power menu?

Unfortunately the error message made it so that way I could not use the home button. Also the power menu on the switch lite only allows you to put the console to sleep and not turn it off.

I went to bed before your answer was posted so I hadn't seen it. However, my switch died in during the night and once I had plugged it in to charge it, it was completely normal. The thing I have to focus on now is replacing the power button.
