Just wondering where the sensor is so I can cover the webcam with a post it. I can't find the exact spot where the sensor is since the bezel is white.

MacBook Pro / MacBook Air: The ALS is next to the webcam in the top bezel. On some models, it may be slightly off to one side.
iPad / iPhone: It is usually located next to or within the notch.

All modern Mac’s desktop or laptop ALS and TrueTone control is done within the FaceTime camera unit its self.
iPhone's and iPad’s are a bit different as they have two cameras units. Here the ALS is only perform within the FaceTime camera as it adjusts the brightness of the screen. TrueTone is performed within the active camera to adjust skin tones as well as meter the light temp of the surrounding area to bias the screens color so at night it is less Blue. The builtin nero engine logic uses this.
Lastly the Apple Watch also has a ALS sensor to meter the light level so it’s not overly bright
