Hi Sam,

Lines on a new screen could mean a couple of things. The most likely is a bad or damaged connection to the logic board, but it could also indicate damage that may have occurred during installation, or even a defective replacement.

I'd suggest you start out by unplugging the display and checking both sides of the connector, on the flex cable and on the circuit board for any bent, broken or missing pins. Bent pins can sometimes be straightened with some fine tip tweezers. Use a magnifying glass and a bright light, and check the flex cable too for any kind of tears or excessive bends that can break the copper connectors inside.

Assuming everything's okay there, clean both sides of the connector with 90% or higher concentration isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and reconnect the display, making sure the plug is seated securely, then retest.

If the issue is still there, try plugging the old screen in (depending how functional it is), and see if the artifact appears there as well. If not, chances are you've got something wrong with the new screen and you may need to contact the seller about the possibility of getting a replacement. If you bought it from iFixit, it comes with a lifetime warranty and you may be able to get another one under warranty (email them at support@ifixit.com for help).

Check all that out and let us know what you find.
