Do you really need a PROXIMITY SENSOR FLEX on ipad pro gen 5?

Hi, I had to replace my broken screen on my ipad pro Gen 5. my new screen replacement has no proximity sensor flex. they are hard to find and hard to install. Do you really need to have this installed? Thanks
