Would the dc-in cable sold here also be compatible with the P51?

I'm having issues with the AC adapter on my laptop (as described here:, but I've confirmed the ribbon is fully plugged in and it's still not working), and I think it might make sense to replace the DC-in power cable. There's a DC-in component for sale here (Lenovo ThinkPad P50 DC-IN Cable), but that's only listed as being compatible with the P50, not the P51. The part photo looks visually similar to the one from the Lenovo "DC-in Cable Replacement" video here:, but would it actually be compatible?

Hi @zoesnape

The part number for the DC-In cable is DC30100PE00 which is applicable to both the P50 and P51 models (also seen on the image in the link from ifixit that you posted)

According to the video you posted it is compatible as long as your P51 laptop, is a MT 20HH or a 20HJ model and not an 20MM or 20MN model, but I suspect it may be just how to access the DC-In cable rather than the DC-In cable itself is the reason for the warning notice. (Note; the MT model number is shown on the product info label on the bottom of the laptop)

Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop that may help with the dis-assembly etc. as it seems that you have to remove the systemboard to access the plug connector.

Hi @zoesnape

Unless the power cord has a power/size difference the cord should work fine with the P51 as it does with the P50

Cheers mate!
