Replaced battery but charge only lasts a couple of hours.

A shop replaced the battery on Samsung galaxy s21 plus. Cellphone is over 3 years old and was used a lot daily. The new battery is better than the old one but only good for a couple of hours. I limit charge to 85%, and usually recharge at 20% but now sometimes it goes down to 14% before I notice. Why are replaced batteries so poor or is it something else? I have a new ankor charger and new quality charging cable.

@donaldwe could just be a "mediocre" battery. I would suggest that you first calibrate your battery. Battery Calibration

Next, you want to make sure that your phone does not run any apps in the background that may use power. Start your phone in safe mode and see if your battery lasts considerable longer.

Also, turn push notifications off. Next you want to turn on the power saving mode and see if that helps. For your Samsung get the isettings information from here

Ultimately, it all depends on what you do with your phone. The more you use it the less it will last. Streaming audio and video as well as playing games will drain your battery quickly.

@oldturkey03 I will try calibration. Samsung will not sell batteries for any phone. I have had this problem with replacement batteries on every phone. I never play games, don't stream, only on YouTube. My new Samsung galaxy S23 plus, the battery was brilliant for 2 months, then added more apps & turn them off, now the battery has about average life after only 4 months. I use the phones for several hours a day, limit charge from 20% to 85%. Thanks for your answer.

@donaldwe Yes, batteries are such a hit and miss. Either they are really good or they are really bad. Batteries have become the new battleground for all these manufacturers. The is one of the reasons why we recommend iFixit and only a few other places. I do wish you the best of luck with this and hope it will work out for you.
