Wii disc laser not functioning

I have a white first-gen Wii that will no longer read discs. Said Wii was used at least once weekly for a long time before it stopped reading discs. The disk drive still spins up fine and the rollers still work well. I took the Wii apart, cleaned the laser with isopropyl alcohol and a Q-tip, tested Wii again, and still will not read discs. I have tried several known good discs on Wii after cleaning laser. I was wondering/hoping if there is anything else I can try before replacing the disc drive?

As a matter of fact, there is! For this sort of problem, replacing the laser lens itself sounds like a viable solution. IFixit has the part and a guide for this:
