GPU Heatsink temperature does not appear

Guys, is there any way to read the GPU Nvidia 9400m or GPU Diode temperature on the iMac? From what I remember, I could only see the temperature in the High Sierra.

Are you using the latest versions of TG Pro?

by

@danj Yes, 2.89. From what I remember, I was never able to see the GPU temperature when installing a system above high sierra, using a patch.

In High Sierra I can see the temperature, but in Catalina onwards I can't.

@ramonferre18311 - What patch?

by

@danj At the time of Catalina it was the Catalina Patcher Dosdude1, and currently OpenCore Legacy Patcher, but if I install the official High Sierra I can see the temperature.

Well… I think you found a weakness in the shim service as TG Pro (or likely any temp monitoring app) can’t gain access to the needed firmware API call.

I hit that too with a few custom Apps with OpenCore. Sadly I ended up rolling back to the highest Apple supported macOS my system could use.
