Samsung Watch 5 is not charging after water damage Need a new battery?

My GW5 got water damaged. Water came through mic hole. I opened and cleaned up with isopropylic alcohol 91%. The battery looks good and still had charge, I measured 3.8V. After assembling the watch booted and the display and buttons worked fine. When I attach the watch to the charger, the battery is not charging, and if I turn on the watch reboots with a "turn off" message saying that needs to cooldown.
Do you think I just need a new battery or something else is damaged?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Whatever moisture remains, is unseen unless you have a 10x jeweler's eye loupe to examine how moisture can remain to short circuit massive electronics in a small footprint. The best you can do is remove the cover and battery, and lay them out on a dish placed over a gas stove pilot light, gas oven with pilot light warming the oven, on top of a hot water boiler, sunny window or outside sunny spot; all allowing gentle heat to evaporate remaining moisture. This should be allowed at least several hours or more then reassemble and hope for the best. The longer warmth is evaporating tiny pockets of moisture, the better the chances of drying this watch out completely.

@notbroken I do not have gas stove, will a gas lighter help?

NO! Very low heat, below 150F; set top box from cable tv, wide screen TV, desk light, any thing giving off heat that you can put your hand on without burning your hand - gentle heat. oldturkey03's guide to disassembly will help tremendously.

@mechanicfruit it will depend on how much you cleaned it up. If you did only a superficial cleaning, it may just need more.

This "message saying that needs to cooldown" would lead me to at least try a new battery. The temp sensor is commonly in the battery. Replacing it would be my first step after cleaning the watch. Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Battery Replacement
