Known as the ''PS2'', it is a sixth-generation video game console first released by Sony in Japan in March 2000. The United States saw it later in 2000 with the SCPH-30000. Repair of this device requires only common tools, but can get tricky.

I am looking for specific parts

I am looking for very specific parts for my PS2:

  • The memory/controller port cable
  • The board inside the ODD that moves the tray in and out.

When I bought the console, it said that it was also reading games very slowly, is it worth it to replace the whole ODD for the board? And where would I find the memory/controller port cable?

@daneelliottd532 we need to know your exact model. There are some different variants of the PS2. Here is an example of what the cable for models beginning with SCPH-3 & SCPH-5 look like and it shows you how specific you need to be so we can try and help you.

As for the ODD, it will again depend on the exact model Sometimes it's just easier to replace the complete drive where other models just do not allow that

@daneelliottd532 in that case you have teh link for a controller port cable already. Lets work on the ODD

@oldturkey03 I have bought an ODD from EBay already. The ports seem to be doing just fine with the ripped cable, but if I see any further issues, I will order that cable. Thanks for the link!
