My kindle oasis is frozen with an updating screen. I tried holding the power button for 40+ seconds. But it's not doing anything. Anybody else encountered this problem and found a work around?

Your model S8in4o is 10th Generation.
Your battery may be very low. Try charging it for a few hours and then try resetting it again.
Failing that work try disconnecting the battery, press power botton, which will force a "cold boot". Then reconnect battery, reassemble - yes I know but take your time, Look at 6:13 in video linked below:

I charged it (light is green) but no luck resetting. BTW, for resetting im holding down the power button for 40 secs. The model number is S8in4o.
It happened to me because I used it in the swimming pool (underwater....) and next week started to frozen and finally didnt respond.
I put it in a dehumidifier (it can be a single sealed box with a dehumidifying tablet that you can buy for ~€2/$2) and leave it for at least 48 hours, and now It works again
(the first few minutes it may be a little slow, but then it will be fine, like the first day).
Do not do as other people say of using a hair dryer, it can even be dangerous (the back is made of aluminum, so it can hurt your hand when it is hot, like it happened to me :-( )
