Has the laptop ever been cleaned? Sometimes it overheats because the fans are blocked. It could also be the thermal paste needs replacing.

I have an old MacBook Pro, it has overheating issues too. It gets to a constant 104C (219F), and will melt a chocolate chip cookie within 5 to 7 minutes.

I tried redoing the thermal paste and nothing changed, the fans are also fine. So is everything else. It could be that your device is somewhat like mine, it's randomly decided to rebel and become annoying to use.

Perhaps it could be the battery or the charging cable, I've only been fixing computers for 2 years now so I don't know too much, but seeing as this is simular to mine, I thought I may suggest the things that I tried when I had this issue.

Good luck, and don't use it on your lap without something between it and your legs. :)

@andrewliko you really want to stop playing Roblox or any other game on it for now. If you like your computer and want to use it for a bit longer, you will need to work on fixing it. If it melts Crayons your computer is obviously overheating. That will also explain the loud noise. Next thing it is going to do is to melt components on the motherboard :-)

First thing to do (besides playing games) is to disassemble your computer. Download the service manual for it from here Go to page 61 of the manual, which will get you to the fan removal. You must follow all the prior steps listed. Once you remove the service doors and the top cover, you most likely will find tons of dust that are choking your system and airflow. Start by using a brush to remove and dust. Then remove the fan and make sure that it is still working right and clean as well. To be honest, I would go ahead and replace it since it is probably on its last leg from all the huffing and puffing it had to do to keep your system cool. Part number for that is L01054-001

Next thing to do is to remove the heatsink, page 71 in the manual and replace the thermal paste. I bet yours is all crumbly and dry from all the heat. Use something like this guide How to Apply Thermal Paste to replace the paste. It has to be done right. Once your computer is cleaned of dust, has a new fan as well as new thermal paste, reassemble it. Now is also a good time to think about replacing the battery, but that is not a must do.

Keep in mind that games require a lot of processing power. So make sure that you max out your memory and keep your video settings to what is required for these games. Also, do what was said in prior answers, don't use it on your lap or on the couch, in your bed etc. without allowing proper airflow. Heat will kill your computer!

Hi Andrew, the reasons why your laptop can be hot and loud could be you need brand new thermal paste, and your fan needs cleaning if it has tons of dust.
