HDMI port defective due to water damage corrosion

Hello Fixing Guys! I have a MacBook Pro 14 inch 2023, which unfortunately already has a defective HDMI port after 6 months. A little liquid has probably gotten onto the pins, which have corroded as a result. Cleaning with a brush and alcohol has unfortunately not been successful. As the HDMI connection is soldered to the logic board, it would have to be replaced there. Does anyone know where I can get a suitable HDMI connector or which one is installed there? Thanks in advance! BR, Johannes

Answer this question I have this problem too

Instead of such a heavy expense in replacing the connector, how about just getting a USB-C to HDMI adapter, the just use the USB-C port?

Without the proper gear to remove the HDMI port connector and solder a new one (which Apple doesn’t offer) this is risky!

hey dan, thanks for your reply. I know using a adapter would work as well but I just want to have all things working as the Mac is still that new.

I have someone with professional micro soldering equipment who could easily do the job if I had the replacement part.

Any idea where I could find that?

@johannes37802 - Sorry, I don’t know where to find one other than from a junker board. I’ve not needed to go into these system yet.

Hi @johannes37802

Try searching here or here for a HDMI port that matches what is already installed.

Clicking on each item will then get to the item where the datasheet can be viewed.

This will show the exact location of the port's case lug position so you can check if they line up with the solder tabs on the logic board that are there to secure it in place and to take the mechanical strain off the connection pins, the number of which are also shown by the datasheet, as not every HDMI port has the lugs in the same place on the case or has the full compliment of 24 pins. It depends on how many were decided to be used for the device..
