Integrated laptop cam stopped working but still recognized

My Inspiron 15R (touchscreen model)'s integrated webcam stopped working a couple of months ago. If I press the bevel sides of the display mounting I can get some softwares to make it work again, like MS Team. A lsusb CLI command show it is detected (Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0c45:64ad Microdia) by the OS (Ubuntu 20.04) and I have tried several new and old Ubuntu versions to try to determined if it is a driver issue - it seems not to be such. I wonder if there is a cable to be reseated that might get it working regularly again. Please, does anybody here have any idea about how to fix it? Thanks and best regards, Fábio

Hi @fabiodesalles

Pressing the bezel near the camera and then it works, seems to suggest that it could a connection problem with the camera or the camera module perhaps.

Here's the owner manual for the laptop.

Go to p.65 to view the procedure to remove/replace the camera module. This will at least allow you to check if there's a problem with the connection or perhaps the module.

If you think that it may be the module, search online for Y3PX8 to find suppliers that suit you best. (supplier example only so that you can verify that this part number is compatible with your model)

Thank you very much for your answer, Jayeff. I'll look into the manual and attempt the checks. I'll have to wait sometime for it though, since it's the only computer I've got where I can work. I'll post here when I eventually solve it. Best regards and Happy Holidays, Fábio.
