Wireless Module not supported

HP Pavillion dv6-6166la

So... my computer can't boot because a Bluetooth Module is "not supported", but I never touched or changed the Module, what happens??!?!

Hi @emicraftnoob ,

Try removing the WLAN module from the motherboard and then check if the laptop passes POST (power on self test) and boots into the OS. The Bluetooth controller is in the same module as the WiFi (WLAN) controller.

Here's the maintenance and service guide for the model series.

Go to p.67 to view the procedure to remove/replace the WLAN module.

If it does start up OK etc then the module is faulty and needs to be left out and replaced. The laptop will not have WiFi or Bluetooth capability during this time until a replacement WLAN card is installed.

See the top of p.67 in the guide to find the HP part numbers for all the WLAN modules that are compatible with the laptop. Then search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.
