Trackpad works but the top layer has detached

On my Late 2016 MacBook Pro (A1707), the trackpad works but the top layer that is visible, is detached on the right side. Is it possible to fix this without removing the battery?

I’m wondering if could mount some double-sided tape underneath the track pad on the right side, not pretty but might work.

Well how about checking the battery as just based on its age its likely its time for a fresh battery. I would install CoconutBattery and make a fresh Question in Answers so we can check it out together.

I’m going to assume this is the original battery, while Cycle Count: 719 is on the edge, the Design Capacity: 49% tells me this battery is not healthy!

So… if you still want to use this system it makes sense to replace the Touchpad and the battery you’ll easily get a good six more years of use!

I wanted to replace the battery anyway, but not right now. I fixed the trackpad using two small patches of double-sided tape in each corner, which works well. I'll look at it again when I work on the battery. Thank you for the links; very helpful!

@togedo - I understand it’s a bit of change. In the meantime make sure you backup as one day you might not have access until you fix things.
