Hi @josephgbuc43171

As stated above the storage is hard mounted on the motherboard and is not easily removed or replaced.

However, one way to easily increase storage in the laptop is to insert the largest capacity micro SD card that you can afford or want, into the laptop's card reader port and leave it there.

You can configure the card as the 2nd storage drive in Windows so that the primary eMMC drive only has the Win operating system stored on it. Any 3rd party programs and all your data folders e.g. Documents, Downloads, Videos, Music etc are located on the card i.e. 64GB eMMC storage + 128/256/512GB/1TB SD card storage Search online for how to configure and move the folders to a 2nd storage drive in Win11

The advantages of doing this are:

  • Increased storage.
  • Card is unobtrusive as it doesn't protrude from the case.
  • Your personal data is easily accessible in the event of the laptop failing - simply remove the card. Unless you perform regular backups it is very hard/expensive to recover data from eMMC storage in a failed laptop
  • No loss of speed in operation as the card will function at the same speed as the main storage drive.

The main disadvantage of doing this is if you use the SD card reader port often to download images etc from a camera's SD card or other cards etc is you have to remove the "storage" card each time so that you can use it

Both an advantage and disadvantage is that given how easily it is to remove the card from the laptop, you can remove it and take it with you so that your data is safe if you ever have to leave the laptop unattended for a short while etc e.g. in a library (remember to "unmount" it first) but it is unwise to handle the card too often as they can be damaged as well if mishandled too often, however this also means someone else can do it just as easily as well, but they have to know that it is there. Although you could always "Folder lock" the files with a password to make it difficult for anyone else, but this makes it cumbersome to use for you as well.

@josephgbuc43171 no you cannot. In your case the EMMC is configured as part of the system board. If you want to check it, download the service manual for your model from here.

Let us know what the issues are that are preventing you from installing Win 11
