Two lights flashing at same time and printer stops during printing

My Epson L1800 DTF printer will start printing perfectly. During printing, it will make a knocking noise as the printhead moves back and forth. It locks up and both lights start flashing. I have tried pulling out waste ink, cleaning and lubricating the shaft, cleaning the clear strip and also the yellow carriers. I have turned the machine off and waited overnight. I have blown out the paper feed. I have tried unidirectional printing. Any ideas appreciated. I am at a standstill with orders waiting...

Update (11/22/23)

Thank you for your help, but I think I fixed it. I have tanks, not cartridges on mine. I make sure they are always full. I changed the setting on printing speed. It was checked for high-speed printing and I unchecked it. So far, so good. I have 2 of these printers and the one that was throwing the error printed much faster than the one that is doing ok. Again, thank you so much for trying to help! I have fought this fight for several months now and have watched every Youtube video I could find!

Update (11/24/23)

Well, printed great for 1 day and started doing the same thing again... I give up!

Update (11/25/23)

The noise is coming from the printhead as it moves back and forth. Do you have any idea which part I need to check. I am thinking it is in the hardware, not software, but I have no idea what part to check. Thank you so much for all your help. The printer is brand new, less than 2 months old and since it is a dtf converted printer I purchased on Amazon, the support is not very good.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@christie50578 double check for any warranty on this printer. Make sure that you check the sellers, as well as Amazon's warranty description. Those printers aren't cheap so 2 month should still be covered. Anyhow, which LED's are flashing? Are they flashing in unison or are they alternately flashing? Fast or slow flashing?

Have you been able to fix your printer? Mine is doing the same thing!

by

I did! It was a loose belt. Once I tightened it I have had no problem. Hope this helps! So frustrating!!!

by

Hi christie, could you be more spesific about the belt. Which belt and how you tighten it? Because i search about tightening L1800 belt but couldnt find any.

by

On the left side of the printer, there is a belt that feeds the paper. There are 2 screws that need to be loosened so that you can tighten the belt. On 1 of my printers, there are only holes to access the screws, on the other, a panel comes down and you can access the inside of the printer. Loosen the screws and push them outwards to tighten. Once you have the belt tight, there will be almost no give to the belt. I tightened the screw on the right first and then the one on the left. It took me a few tries to get it really tight. I have had no more problems since doing this.

could you write the message you get at the status monitor after the blinking you mentioned.

and please be more specific about the problem.

you mentioned it prints perfectly and at the same time you said it knocks and gets error. when exactly do you get the error. to the best of my knowledge there seems to be a mechanical issue involved.

Update (11/25/23)

for error go to

printer/print preferences/maintanance/status monitor

Where do I find the error message? It start printing and then during the printing, it makes the sound and that is when the lights start flashing, after it makes the sound.
