Could I put the new Steam Deck OLED battery into the original Deck?
If I buy a battery for the OLED model, could it work in the original model?

Probably not. It was stated that one of the reasons they could accommodate space for a bigger battery is due to the OLED screen being slimmer than LCD. I would love for someone to try it but I think it's not possible.

I have tried it. Everything fits perfectly, but Steam Deck (LCD) does not recognize the battery from OLED version. The LED indicator starts to blink, and when you boot the Deck with the charger in, it does not show the battery level. So, if somebody could make software for Steam Deck LCD that will make it think it is OLED version, it could work.
Can you boot the steam deck on? Or it just not show the battery level, does everything else worked ?
Yea, it boots, but without battery, just from the charger itself. And it purely works from the charger: it takes it as there is no battery in steam deck. Good news - steam deck can work just on a power delivery mode. Bad news - battery from OLED is not supported (even though fits absolutely perfect, and the ploarity of the battery cable is the same, and the number and placement of pins is the same)
You need to enter the BIOS and have it do a battery check for the new one.
@ivanmakarov Did you ever get any deeper finding a solution for the OLED battery to work in an LCD deck?

I couldn't find any info about the size of the new oled battery but the old one is 102*86*11.2mm

It is something I would gladly try when the Oled battery is available for sale... I already 3D printed a new back plate with enough space for the oled battery + 2280 SSD. But does anyone knows when the Oled specific parts will be available ?

All the parts are here on ifixit, OLED battery, case, display, etc...

It seems like the OLED screen has given more internal space and they used it to give the O-deck a bigger battery. Given you can't change the screen, you won't be able to change the battery.
