What is the best way to remove rust off a a screwdriver bit

Ive started noticing that one of my commonly used screwdrivers got rusted up a little, The rest seems to be fine (ones that i dont use alot). Another thing I found is that the place where you insert the bits also got rusted a little. Here are the images of the rustiness. How can I fix this?

00 Wire wool and a squirt of WD40 will remove the rust. Then i would lightly coat in 3 in 1 oil to protect it.

@sploo soak it in some Citric Acid (available in pretty much any store like Walmart etc. You can find it in the food isle or the cleaning isle. Dishwasher and washing machine cleaners are commonly citric acid). Soak the tool for a bit and then you can wipe the rust off. 3-in-1 oil is good to apply after or use some gun oil.
