I removed black tape that stick to the sodimm - do I need to replace?

When I upgraded my laptop RAM - found out that there's some black tape that covering the SODIMM. I just tear it up and found no longer sticky afterwards.

Do I need to replace the black tape? If yes what does the black tape called? What does it do actually?

Additionally I also remove black tape that stick to heatsink when I clean up dust from the fan. Is it the same tape?

It is either a ESD electronic static device , protection tape, or heat tape, you can either reuse the old tape or buy some tape from online.

It could also be just securing tape to make sure that nothing touches the ram or just extra holding it.

However this is extra protection from the manufacturer, it’s more for transportation and if the unit gets banged , knocked around, during its life.

So I would use a tape that’s designed to withstand temperatures like : Polyimide Tape sell on ifixit or

HellermannTyton hela tape ( strong adhesive resistant to heat and media, abrasion resistant
