There is really is no upgrades for your system internally. Your system already offers a very good WiFI interface! 3-stream AirPort Extreme (802.11a/b/g/n).

I would focus on your homes WiFI network making sure the bands you are using are the 5.0 GHz set and not shared with other neighbors. Go to the App Store download WIFI Explorer app the low end version is really all you need so you can visually see the WiFI channels in use and what you are using with its data rate.

You can use an Ethernet extender plugging it into your system if a hard wired connection is not possible. In deep urban communities I strongly recommend hard wired connections if the data feed is heavy either locally or to the internet.

Most people hit the limitations of their internet connection before what they hit limits in their homes. Review with your internet provider what options you have. Do consider the streams direction! Most only offer Asymmetric versus Symmetric service. Offering a higher bandwidth to you (downstream) with a limited bandwidth from you (upstream).
