Why did my SSD die almost immediately?

Purchased a steam deck last sunday, it arrived friday. I was very impressed with the shipping not gonna lie... 5 days from order to in my hands. Anyways i work a busy job so I was unable to do anything besides download some games until today and I went to try it out and then it froze..... So I thought eh whatever happens to tech sometimes and tried restarting it at which point got a boot error. k cool awesome. got the recovery/boot software off steam and attempted a reinstall of steam os. no nvme drive detected..... well thats great. now to either wait for steam support to get back to me or buy a new hard drive (kinda liking that idea and 2tb drive). So anyone got any ideas as to why that would happen? or if there is a possibility that the motherboard is shot? cause would suck to get a new drive just to have it fry immediately if the motherboard is overvolting it or something stupid. I'm tempted to take it apart and take a look (maybe the nvme is just not seated right or something stupid who knows) but I dont really want to until i hear back from steam support. I know valve partnered with ifixit so i dont think taking it apart would void warranty... but dont want to take the chance. anyone got any suggestions or insights?
