Has anyone done a 300e Keyboard replacement?

Hey guys, Our school district has about 400 of these guys and I've seen a couple with bad keyboards. I'm guessing it's a bad ribbon cable but it's impossible to get to it as the keyboard is riveted to the frame. Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @clarareid

If it is only a few keys on the keyboard that are the problem it may be the key itself and not the keyboard per se.

There are suppliers¹ online that supply the keys for a lot of different models. You could always contact them first or maybe just get one set of replacements to see if replacing the keys resolved the problem.

¹Supplier example only - there are other suppliers, search online for laptop key replacement.

I have about 400 of these devices in my care. In an attempt to see what's up, I did take apart one of the keyboards completely. I suspect it is a fault in the ribbon where it joins with the keyboard (not the other end). Looks like the only real fix is to order a replacement Upper Case like @Ottobunnycoder mentioned.

You will probably have to end up replacing the whole upper case. If the whole keyboard isn't working, it could possable be the cable. If only a few keys aren't it would probably be a keyboard issue, or a keycap.

I have this problem as well in a similar fashion - for a school. I keep finding that N & B keys fail first. Are you finding this? Have you found any solutions with your keyboard problem? Thanks!
