I found a USB C - MagSafe adapter on Amazon. Any good?

Hello! I have a MacBook, which I have converted to a Chromebook, by downloading ChromeOS Flex. The MagSafe 1 charger I was using is badly frayed, and needs to be replaced. Will this cheap USB-C to MagSafe from Amazon work OK with my small Apple USB-C charger brick?

Actually the one showed in the pic ain't good for the magsafe 1 system. BUT, the other one "L Shaped" adapter works just perfect with the whole series of MacBooks depending on magsafe 1. How I can tell about it?

Just because I use currently not one but several of those adapters with generic "ugreen" power adapters (60-100w) with usb c power delivery and a generic usb pd cable. Don't hesitate, buy it if you still need it

Sadly no, this is a USB-C power delivery solution. It allows the newer MagSafe systems to use a USB-C charger. The MagSafe connector is also physically different it’s longer and narrower than the original MagSafe.

Do you know of another low-cost, easy alternative?

@wmf10 - There are no alternative charger. Be careful knockoff chargers often damage your system and some are so bad they can set a fire! One of my employers engineers forgot his charger in a pinch bought one at a local shop to charge his system only to have both go up in fire. It cost the company over 2 mill in damages.

That's not good, but thank you for the warning!

@wmf10 - If you’re set don’t forget to accept the answer.

Apple in newer generations did address the lack of choice, moving to a power standard with the 2016 and newer MacBook systems embracing USB-C. As people didn’t like the USB-C connection as tripping on the power cord would cause the system to tumble to the floor breaking it in the process! Apple then re-embraced the MagSafe interface!

Being the third version of the interface, all three use different voltages and control interface.
