Hi @rees95027,

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop's vga port or mini DP port and check if you get a display on it after starting the laptop. Don't forget to press the F7 (or Fn + F7) key to toggle the display between laptop only, external only or both on together.

If there is a display on the external monitor, then switch the display back to the laptop screen and then shine a flashlight at an angle close to the screen and check if you can see any images at all. They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help.

If you see images on the laptop screen then there's a backlight problem. Either the backlight power supply on the motherboard, the video cable between the board and the LCD panel or the LCD panel.

If there are no images on the screen, then there's a problem with the video cable or the LCD panel

If there's no display on the external monitor, then either the laptop's not passing POST (Power On Self Test) on startup or there's a motherboard problem.

Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop that may help if you have to disassemble it.
