Computer not turning on after battery replacement

I recently replaced the battery in this MacBook. It turned on right after before turning right off again and now it does not turn on at all. I've attempted power cycling, SMC reset and even switching the Magsafe board with one from a known working computer. The charging indicator light goes from green to orange as if it is charging the battery and the computer appears to respond to keyboard inputs like SMC reset (light flickers when I do it). But I still get no signs of life, no display, no chime, no fanspin.

I also tried powering it on without a battery and with the old battery but it still does not turn on.

I'm completely stumped, unsure if my board is dead, help would be appreciated.

Options

What is the color of the MagSafe LED? Amber or Green. Make sure the socket and cable contacts are clean and also make sure the insulator in the socket is clean as well.

When plugged in the light is green and then changes to amber after a second or two. By contacts do you mean the ones on the battery? They are clean and I have the same issue when I test with no battery and when I use the old battery.

@mcalel - I was focusing on the chargers cable (MagSafe) and the systems socket.

If the MagSafe LED stays Amber let it sit a good 6 hours to fully charge the LED should be Green at that point. Let us know what happens at that point did the system start?

the charger and the port is clean, I left it plugged in for a while and the LED never turned green, I'm gonna let it sit overnight but so far I have nothing
