I have a 38mm series 7 Apple Watch and recently the battery went bad and I need to get a replacement. I was looking for a replacement battery for the 38mm Watch but I can only find them for the 42mm and 45mm. so are the 42mm battery’s interchangeable with the 38mm watches?

Simple answer no!
You can’t physically fit the larger battery into your watch.

Just to expand on Dan's absolutely correct answer, devices like cell phones and watches custom design their batteries to fill all available space to give you the maximum battery life. So naturally since the 42mm watch is bigger than the 38mm watch, that means there's more space inside to hold a battery. Which means the battery is going to be bigger and, as Dan pointed out, you can't fit the larger size battery into the smaller space.
If I can’t fit the 42 mm battery in the Watch do you guys have any idea where I might be able to get a 38mm one?
