The second generation of the Renault Clio automobile. It was launched in 1998.

Why won't my immobilizer light shut down. The car won't start?

When I turn my Renault Clio 2 1.4 on the Immobilizer light is constant on and not shutting down ,thus the car won't start?

Put your key into the igntion turn it to on position but not all the way so that the car engine turns on. Hold down the immobilisser button for around 15sec then try turning the car engine on. This operation will reset the immobilser, and your car should start. Repeat when neccesary(It will happen every so often) Get immobilser seen to by a pro asap.

Hi @peterwitbooi

Check if the 2A fuse # 28 in the passenger compartment fuse box is OK.

This supplies power to the Immobilizer read coil, which is near the ignition switch.

The coil reads the codes from the ignition fob key when it is inserted into the ignition switch.

Hi @peterwitbooi

Not sure what you mean but here's an image showing the location of the fuse in the fuse box.

The fuse rating is printed on the fuse itself, but in the image it is covered by the number 28

Be aware that if you replace the fuse and it blows again there may be a problem with the immobilizer reader module or perhaps the wiring to the module
