Solution for faulty USB-C board.

Failure of the USB-C board on the Yoga 910 and other Lenovo laptops is very common.

Symptoms include not charging, not reading USB-C. The failure seems to be caused by plugging power into the non power USB-C port.

Replacement boards are rare and very expensive.

The problem can be resolved easily and inexpensively by replacing the USB-C controller chip. I have confirmed this fix on 3 boards.

The Chip is a PS8743A

Also, beware the flex cables joining the daughter boards to the motherboard. They do not seat very well and can cause issues if not seated properly.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @fixifynz,

Thanks for your input.

It may be better though if you post your fix in the Troubleshooting section of the ifixit Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB guide.

Click on edit near the top right of the guide and then add your information under Troubleshooting.

Don't forget to click on Save at the bottom.

It may take a few days for the ifixit admin to approve the edit just so that you're aware of this.

Doing this will make it easier for others to find rather than having to search through the forum for your "question".

Cheers.
