Wifi And GPS issues

Having issues with Wifi And GPS since i rebuilt the phone.

Background: bought a second hand 3gs with damaged outerscreen (the seller was a friend so i know the history of the phone and saw when it was dropped and damaged so no chance of water damage. old user upgraded so phone was redundant to him).

Prior to rebuilding it i was using it daily and all features worked GPS locked on quickly and followed my movements and wifi worked in every room in the house.

Since rebuild (new front all except digitizer, back and battery) I have to be stood next to the router to access it and GPS is non exsistant.

The replacement front and back had several issues, supplier has been very helpful in trying to resolve issues. (Battery supplied didn't work - new one sent which resolved that, Vibrate didn't work - refitting original fixed that, earpeice didn't work had replacement sent, no different so reinstalled original - sort of sorted, may be a connection issue with the ribbon.

Since the rebuid the main issue has been wifi and GPS (I live in rural area so i rely on home broadband and the wifi on the phone) the replacement back had a new aerial fitted and the number 6 connector present. I cleaned the connections and the replacement one still didn't want to know and the wifi was still poor, I have changed the GPS/wifi aerial for the original one from the broken phone and have improved the signal on the wifi but it's still not as good as it was but still i have no GPS.

I have tried network reset, airplane mode, turning the 3g off, i have installed GPS monitoring (GPS Status) which shows bad fix when not connected to wifi (although when i use Quicktech diagnostic it states that the gps is working although it only shows the co-ordinates) and poor fix when connected to wifi

when using maps and my sat nav programs the position icon won't follow the phone movements when i'm out and about.

I'm now stuck at a brick wall not knowing which way to turn, (sounds a bit ironic when i'm having navigation issues lol)

can anyone point me in the right direction (but not to an apple store for a new phone)

cheers in advance

Completely disassembled and rebuilt using original parts and still have issue, have accepted that this is probably a fault with the chip on the board so I just have to accept that i won't have GPS. :(

unfortunatly after rebuilding again to put back to white the 'new' battery (which is the second one set from the supplier as the first one didn't work) has decided that after 2 charges it didn't what to accept a charge. when i changed the batteryy back to the original one i snapped the earth prong fro the ariel and now effectivly have a iTouch.

So I am left with no option but to sell the phone for spares :(

I have the same issue, but I haven't poked around in the phone - will keep an eye on this topic to see if a resolution is posted..
