Hi Corey,

The normal/official/accepted way of replacing the screen on your phone is to replace the complete screen/frame assembly as one piece. That eliminates any issues with separating the old screen from the frame and resecuring the new screen to the frame since the frame comes with the screen already mounted on it. The gist of it is you have to gut the old phone and transfer basically everything to the new screen.

Here's an example of a repair guide showing you how to replace the screen/frame assembly.

However, it is also possible to replace just the display without the frame; it took quite a bit more searching to find a YouTube video showing how to do that replacement. A little less work with regard to transferring parts, but you do have to glue the replacement screen back on the frame securely.

I would personally recommend the first method as that's the preferred way to do it, but you can save a couple of bucks (very little, really) by buying just the screen without the frame.

Hopefully that gives you all the information you need; let us know if you have any more questions.
