What part is causing my fridge to trip breaker as soon as I plug it in

So my fridge LSC27910ST

instantly trips breaker when plugged in. I discovered if I unplugged the defrost thermistor inside the freezer that the fridge will run again. Figuring a bad thermistor, but I am getting the normal expected resistance readings when I test the thermistor. But if I plug it back in, the fridge shorts the breaker instantly. What related part would cause this to trip? The heater element also has normal resistance readings. Is it the board? If so, can the board be repaired?

So, it was the defrost heater. Unplugging the thermistor sensor essentially “unplugs” the heater, so I was confused. After putting in the new coil, everything is working fine.

Hi @johnrodi

Have you checked the fuse in the plug of the fridge as a faulty fuse can sometimes trip the breaker

Can’t be that as my fridge is working right now with the defrost thermistor harness unplugged.
