How to fix shredded screw?

So my layer with the battery, is the one with the deep screws. 2 of the screws are stripped, how do I unscrew them. I am trying to open my 3ds since the upper screen is very dim with the wrong colors.

@boiledlaban get a Dremel like tool and a small drill. Just slightly bigger than the screw part and smaller than the screw head. Then drill it out carefully. that will remove the screw head. once you separate the pieces you can use some pliers to remove the rest of the screw,

Rubber bands, crazy glue and even extractors have not worked for me on small deep sunken screws.

Thanks, I will try it. Also, did you try this or is it just an idea? By the way, this is on an original 3ds I removed all the screws except the 2 nearest ones to the cartridge holder, can I just force it to open or will that break the plastic?

@boiledlaban I actually have to to that quite often with stuff that has chewed up screw heads. Don't force it since you will most likely crack the plastic. Try to remove the screws first. You can always be more destructive as a last resort :-)

Is there any way to do it without shredding the screw or using big power tools?

by

@boiledlaban the Dremel is really a little power tool :-) Anyhow, sure. You can always try an extractor set like this one Precision Screw Extractor Set
